Textile innovation studio BYBORRE will include an engineered textile made from upcycled yarn from Parley for the Oceans in its next collection. The Amsterdam based designer will also make the yarn available to other creators via its Create design platform.
Parley, an environmental organization and global collaboration network founded in 2012 by Cyrill Gutsch, aims to raise awareness for the beauty and fragility of the Oceans, and to inspire and empower diverse groups such as pacesetting companies, brands, organizations, governments, artists, designers, scientists, innovators and environmentalists in the exploration of new ways of creating, thinking and living on our planet.
“We have engineered a knitted textile with Parley for the Oceans upcycled yarn for our upcoming collection Edition9 (releasing later this year), and we are now making this yarn available to all creators through our design platform Create,” BYBORRE said on social media today. “We hope this will inspire fellow designers and manufacturers to challenge the status quo and bring them to question their material choices and methods of manufacture.”
Parley’s yarn is, according to BYBORRE: “No different than any other polyester yarn in terms of quality and can be used to create textile just as well as any other one could.”
“There’s more to this capsule than meets the eye. It stands as a tangible symbol of change that hopefully will inspire fellow designers and manufacturers to challenge the status quo and bring them to question their material choices and methods of manufacture,” BYBORRE told The New Order magazine in a recent interview.
BYBORRE is an Amsterdam based textile innovation studio working on the frontiers of material development, functionality and aesthetics through engineered knits.
