Italy’s Carvico has just announced the launch of a brand-new fabric. Inspired by the famous beach located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and as light as sea breeze and sinuous like sand dunes, Ipanema is the latest addition to the company’s collection of stretch warp-knitted fabrics.

Ipanema is ultra-light and follows the body and its every move without constraints. Buttery, natural, and soft, it features a spray velvet, almost dusty hand feel, Carvico reports.

Extremely comfortable thanks to its stretch structure, Ipanema is highly versatile and boasts a special sporty appeal. Indeed, Carvico says, it is ideal for the creation of yoga and fitness apparel and also for trendy and glamorous draped beachwear. Lightweight and moisture wicking, Ipanema is also suitable for second layer, wraparound but soft t-shirts for running.

Ipanema is not only high-tech and high-performance, but also eco-sustainable, the company adds. The new fabric is made from Econyl, a 100% regenerated nylon yarn from pre and post-consumer waste materials such as discarded fishing nets, which once they get to the end of their useful life, instead of being disposed of in a landfill, are recovered and regenerated through a complex chemical/physical process.

Fabric composition: 74% regenerated PA; 26% EA

Width: 150 cm; Weight: 125 g/m²
