Leading circular knitting machine builder Mayer&Cie. has introduced a newly developed needle for its OVJA 1.1 TTRB circular garment length machine which allows the knitting of fabrics in different gauges on the same machine.
The OVJA 1.1 TTRB, which is designed for the production of knitwear panels with integrated ribbed border, can be fitted with the new larger hook needle which allows coarse gauge fabrics to be knitted on fine gauge machines. The machine is available in 14, 16 and 18 gauge but each variant can also be used to knit coarse gauge fabrics by knitting alternate needle structures. This means that at least two gauges can be knitted on one machine in the same way that modern flat knitting machines do.
The OVJA 1.1 TTRB also features typical Mayer&Cie. individual needle selection with 3-way technique both for cylinder and dial, opening up wide ranging patterning versatility for both fabric faces in addition to the ‘multiple gauges on one machine’ facility.
With up to 5-colour striping , elastomeric plating and stitch transfer, the machine is said to fully address the rapidly changing demands of the fashion industry – what Mayer refers to as ‘fully fashioned articles with welt produced on the circular knitting machine’. According to the company the OVJA 1.1 TTRB knits body length panels with separation thread and welt, achieving absolute row by row precision in the transition from welt to fabric.
Talking about the benefits of the highly flexible OVJA 1.1 TTRB, Managing Partner Rainer Mayer says:
“This is made possible by automatically controlled motor powered takedown systems. These have been proven to operate to a greater standard of precision than conventional force-driven takedown systems with their far more sluggish response.”
“Enhanced productivity through modern electronics - this comprehensive patterning variety is economically viable even in small production quantities, provided resetting times are cut to a minimum. As in all electronic machines from Mayer & Cie., this is also guaranteed with the OVJA 1.1 TTRB,” Rainer Mayer concludes.
Application areas for the OVJA 1.1 TTRB are knitted outerwear and sports & leisure. Structure possibilities include interloop, electronic-jacquard, striper and transfer.
