Mayer&Cie is preparing to launch a brand new ‘smart solution’ double jersey machine for circular knitted mattress ticking and upholstery fabrics. The entry level OVJA 1.6 EMS aims to attract new customers.
According to Mayer&Cie the machine has been well tested in-house, as is the company’s tradition, and has also performed well in field trials. The company would not confirm, but Knitting Industry believes that the OVJA 1.6 EMS will be launched at ITMA Asia + CITME, which takes place from 16-20 June in Shanghai, China.
“The OVJA 1.6 EMS is targeted towards attracting new customers in developing countries. Currently USA and Europe are the biggest producers of circular knitted mattress ticking with China, India, Brazil, Iran and Syria all coming up,” Wolfgang Mueller explains.
“Whether mattresses, seating furniture, duvets or pillows, the diversity of the OVJA 1.6 EMS in the double face fabrics sector is unlimited. It is without fail the right partner for all of those who want reliability, quality and flexibility at a fair price,” says Mayer&Cie sales director Wolfgang Mueller.
The OVJA 1.6 EMS is said to have nearly unlimited variety in design and fabric weight and have an energy-saving machine design, along with Mayer’s proven and tested electromagnetic single needle selection for best fabric quality. Mayer&Cie sees the machine as an ‘all-rounder’ for double face fabrics in the home textiles market world.
The main features and benefits of the OVJA 1.6 EMS at a glance are:
The OVJA 1.6 EMS is available in the following configurations:
Cylinder diameter: 38 inches
Machine gauges: 18, 20
No. Of feeders: 60
Speed: up to 0.9 m/s (18 rpm at 38‘‘)
The OVJA 1.6 EMS (the S is for Smart Solution) compliments Mayer’s well established mattress ticking machine, the OVJA 1.6 EM, which is available in the same gauges but in both 38 and 42 inch diameters and in 60 and 68 feed formats.
The EM is a more productive (24 rpm at 38” as opposed to 18 rpm at 38”) and more flexible machine but this comes at a price and what Mayer is trying to achieve with the new EMS model is to lure new customers who want to get into the mattress market with the possibility of an early return on investment.
