Marchi & Fildi is widening its Ecotec portfolio range to include new special yarns with counts and styles designed specifically for knit production. The company will demonstrate its new range, focusing on a circular economy approach, at the Première Vision trade fair, which is taking place in Paris this week.

The new expanded range includes Ecotec moulinè and micromoulinè yarns offering exciting colour effects and cool touch, and Ecotec cable – soft twists for full body hand, authentic touch and a variety of colour cards available. At the show, the company is presenting the Ecotec Collection – an exclusive seasonal range of Ecotec fabrics created by Ecotec partners, including Ledatex, 3C Company, O’Jersey, Nalya, Sidònios Knitwear, Lanificio Comatex, Euromaglia, RDD, Manifattura CBM, Tessuti & Tessuti, and Tintex Textiles.

The company has also announced a EUR 2 million investment in highly specialised process technology, reinforcing its commitment to position Ecotec as a key player in the world of responsible innovation.

Ecotec Innovation

This season Ecotec is also presenting an exclusive contemporary range of smart textile design solutions from the Marchi & Fildi research and development centre, in cooperation with the UK expert textile trend forecaster Sandy Mac Lennan. Called Ecotec Innovation, it is an inspiring line developed with the goal of “highlighting Ecotec uniqueness, with solutions that are real avant-garde in fashion trends”.

Pegasus (80% Ecotec cotton, 20% cotton), Chagall (50% Ecotec cotton, 40% cotton, 10% cashmere) and Phoenix (52% Ecotec cotton, 48% recycled polyester) are the fundamentals that gave birth to 10 exclusive innovative qualities. These include nets, knits, patterned woven, degradè, plissè, new tonal summer plaids and bold stripings on fine grounds.

Fashion

Recent Ecotec brand adoptions include Jan’n June, the German brand, founded in 2014, whose aim is to offer garments that are fashionable, affordable and environmentally responsible. Produced by a family-owned company in Poland, Jan’n June operates a strong transparency policy with printed QR-Codes on the hangtags to give its customers all the key information about fabrics, production values and certification for every garment.

The collection for SS ’18 has a minimal look with clean cuts using a neutral colour palette as part of this brand’s appeal. The designers have used material contrasts as an important feature of the collection, combining flowing fabrics with more rigid, stiffened qualities, topped off with light knitwear pieces. A unique piece is a new, bold sweatshirt made with a Tintex fabric that uses Ecotec Smart Cotton by Marchi & Fildi yarn.

Homewear

Mundotextil is a Portuguese home textiles manufacturer. Together with Ecotec, it has just launched, with great success at Heimtextil, a responsibly made cotton towel innovation that saves on water use, energy and CO2 emissions.

This innovative range of Mundotêxtil towels includes towels made from 65% Ecotec Polaris yarn in a 100% cotton product blended with organic cotton, towels made with Ecotec Ginevra yarn for an extra soft absorbent touch thanks to its blend with Modal, and towels made with Ecotec Chagall yarn containing cashmere.

Certified manufacturing process

Ecotec by Marchi & Fildi is made in Italy from a traceable and certified manufacturing process that turns 100% pre-dyed cotton textile clippings into colourful Ecotec yarns. Thanks to the process, the left-over inventories generated during the production of clothing are gathered and transformed into Ecotec yarns, reducing waste and minimising the use of raw resources, while at the same time maintaining the high quality and efficiency.

According to the manufacturer, through this process the company saves in terms of water, CO2 and energy, as attested by the LCA study conducted by ICEA. According to the results, there are improvements up to 56.3% for greenhouse gases, up to 56,6% in energy consumption and up to 77.9% in terms of water usage, when using the company’s exclusive manufacturing process.
