Cariaggi, the leading Italian spinner of woollen and worsted spun luxury knitwear yarns, presents the latest collection for the coming Autumn/Winter season, inspired by concepts of softness, featuring a gentle feel, light weight, and volume.
A season represents black and grey colours that form the perfect base and foil for a palette of bright winter shades, the company reports. The colours appear and disappear, forming a bright presence that is then making way for darker tones.
The company will exhibit the collection at the next edition of Pitti Filati 77, an international event for the knitting yarn industry, which takes place from 1-3 July 2015 in Florence.
Colour range
The new Atelier Collection offers chunky yet lightweight yarns, such as Fern Nm 2,000 (88% cashmere 12% silk), a light carded yarn; Mithras Nm 8,000 (60% cashmere 40% silk), an extraordinarily chunky yarn, enhanced with barely perceptible beads; Helios Nm 1,000 (70% cashmere 30% polyamide), a cage of cashmere that encloses nylon filaments; and Frizzly Nm 1,800 (58% cashmere 42% silk), a combed yarn with a special structure that creates a natural spotted effect.
In the colour range, black is like a cloak moved to one side to reveal the colour underneath; greys express anonymity and invisibility, often interrupted by a desire for the original, to be a rebel. Black is the setting for the colours, grey brings them together and both are the dominant force of the season.
From the darkness of black come the more luminescent shades of winter: the contrast highlights how colours shine in the darkness, while warm, solid greys are said to create spectral shadows, muddling the use of bright pastels.
References to nature
A surprising combination of tones is developed around red, the powerful symbol of personality, rebellion, passion and love, the company reports.
Other shades are used bring to mind the constant need for balance and temperance. There is no shortage of references to nature and natural shades, and reassuring colours with a hint of glitz: from the refinement of pale chestnut and the natural tones of Nordic woods that add touches of calm and poetry, and on to warmer, shades, reminiscent of spices.
