INDIGO – February 13-15, Parc d’Expositions Paris Nord
The next edition of Indigo Fashion – from February 10 to 13, 2009 at Parc d’Expositions Paris-Nord – stands up to the economic crisis and maintains an unequalled offer in terms of quality and creativity in the international marketplace.
At the beginning of January 151 studios had registered from 15 countries. The most important studios will be present at the twice-yearly exhibition. The UK (41%), France (20%) and Italy (16%) send the largest numbers of exhibitors, which is testament to the energy and dynamism of the countries’ textile designers. Thirteen newcomers have registered so far from eight countries: Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, the UK and the USA.
Their multi-product and multi-market collections are in tune with the offer from an event that is unanimously praised by fashion designers, ready to wear brands, distributors and other professionals from the fashion industry looking for creations that will be included in their new collections.
This season, the fashion area will be staged by Sebastien Wierinck/On Site Studio, a young Belgian artist-designer, in-residence at the 104 art centre in Paris who is based in Marseilles. To liven up this space, which is aimed at promoting the artworks of Indigo’s exhibitors, he will use his favourite material, vividly coloured industrial flexible tubes that fold up, bend or intermingle to create an ephemeral and eccentric installation. In this space forms come and go, intertwine and crossover between indoor and outdoor, inside and outside, home and urban furniture, to create comfortable seats.
A convivial and dynamic place to meet, get informed, and get inspired by the synthesis of decoration directions for spring summer 0 available through an illustrated document and the presentation of a selection of the exhibitors’ artworks following the five themes of the season.
Also, Indigo welcomes the “La mode s’exprime, elle s’imprime” competition, that will be celebrating its 10th anniversary. Organised by Unitex, the professional organisation which brings together the main players in the textile industry in the Rhône-Alpes region, it represents a unique opportunity to develop a fashion project, from a print pattern to a sketch of a garment. Indigo visitors will be able to discover the pre-selected designs while walking through a labyrinth installed at the heart of the exhibition, in coral and lilac harmonies.
Last August, Première Vision SA took over DIRECTION, the international textile design show and North American market leader. The integration of the New York event within Première Vision SA will strengthen the global leadership of the Indigo brand in textile design and creation and assure a direct presence in the American market. The next edition of DIRECTION by Indigo will be held January 13-15 2009 at the Penn Plaza Pavilion in New York and will welcome 106 exhibitors. On that occasion, American visitors will be the first to discover a preview of decorations and directions for the spring-summer 2010 season.
