Interfilière Paris, an expert show on lingerie, loungewear and swimwear, will offer the latest product innovations in the lingerie and swimwear fabric market next month, immersing visitors in the world of finishings with its interpretations for the season. “This season is characterised by a desire for renewal, for enhancing fabrics, and for sparking clients’ imaginations,” organisers explain. “Adding finishing techniques to a fabric is like adding value to your boutique.”
The show and its Trend Forum will also focus specifically on analysing four effective retail spaces – a store, offering a strong identity, the pop-up, presenting capsule products, the concept store, with a more lifestyle focus, and finally the internet store, which has become a perfect tool to generate online traffic.
“Brands are experiencing profound changes in the way they imagine and think about products and collections. Today their strength lies especially in marketing and communication,” organisers say. “This is why retail is now assuming rightful place in our sector. Helping points of sale transform to better meet consumers’ needs is the main theme of the Salon International de la Lingerie. This year the trade show is set up like a Parisian flagship store, where you’ll find the latest in merchandising inspiration for retail businesses.”
Finishing
Whether physical, mechanical, or chemical, textile finishing consists of adding properties to a finished product. Transforming an unfinished fabric, adding colour with dyes or plant-based pigments, printing with all kinds of designs for moiré, shiny, embossed, or satin effects – the results can be infinite.
For January 2018, The Exception space at Interfilière Paris will present surface effect innovations. Industrial or artisan finishing methods, simple or extremely sophisticated surfaces, and the use of hands or future technologies all come together to continually push the boundaries of this added value element. The Exception will also showcase ideas from a range of sources that rival in complexity and ingenuity.
Exposed
Eurovet has given a “carte blanche” to Matthieu Pinet, founder of the online gallery-boutique The Shape of the Season, to create an alternative space called Exposed and curate a bold, avant-garde product selection from both the best-known names and those under the radar. Using his expert eye and years of experience in ready-to-wear, Mr Pinet will present an original and eclectic vision of the industry that’s in sync with today’s fashion-focused consumer.
Exposed‘s minimalist and sophisticated format will present 40 lingerie, corsetry, loungewear, accessories and beauty brands. This new approach to showcasing and mixing products aims to bring a different interpretation of style and a new concept of modernity to the fashion world. Like a laboratory, Exposed will investigate and reveal tomorrow’s trends – this will be achieved through a setting designed to inspire those who enter.
Materials inspiration
In January, 10 guests, including a design school, fabrics and fibre manufacturers, and brands from different sectors, will use their creative work to illustrate the diversity and complexity of tomorrow’s lingerie. One example is the athluxury trend with details that have become key to completing an outfit.
Also in the General Forum, the Nature moves us project will alert visitors to our planet’s urgent environmental situation and to the wealth of inspiration that surrounds us. “The organic-ecological influence is now an added value in our wardrobes,” organisers say.
The twice-yearly trend guide will celebrate its 30th birthday with a look back at the last 15 years. For this edition, Summer 2019 will be presented in five themes Organic, Delicious, Flamboyant, Mosaic, and Classy.
