Over 100 representatives of mills, brands and retailers with a stake in the legwear segment of the Chinese marketplace attended the 2016 Lycra Fibre Legwear Seminar that was held in the coastal city of Xiamen on 31 May.

It was a one-stop opportunity to get up-to-date on global legwear trends and the increasingly wide range of consumer benefits delivered by Lycra fibre technologies in this fast-growing market sector, Invista, an owner of the Lycra fibre brand and one of the largest integrated producers of fibres and polymers, reports.

“With everyone there, it’s a unique opportunity to explore market opportunities and how our fibre technologies help address them. Visitors can communicate, analyse and solve problems, and accelerate development of new legwear products,” commented Steven Stewart, Invista Commercial Director for Greater China.

Super Summer Sheer

The day began with a briefing from designer and fashion expert Jean Pan on the consumer demands and preferences most likely to influence hosiery purchase choices this year and next. Creative responses to their expectations formed part of the spectacular legwear show that closed the event.

The launch of Super Summer Sheer technology platform got everyone’s attention, according to organisers. The latest Invista legwear innovation combines the better-than-bare aesthetics and silky touch of ultra-fine fibres, such as Lycra T777F, with the patented Lycra Fusion anti-laddering technology. Super Summer Sheer hosiery can be produced on standard knitting machines using complementary Invista technologies.

Colour and style

Attendees were briefed on growing demand for colour creativity and how Invista’s Living Lights technology can help improve dyeing and finishing processes to help meet it. The natural appearance of existing styles can be heightened or readily enhanced with deeper, more saturated fashion effects, the company explained.

Lycra fibre variants are also designed to deliver maximum freedom of movement and gentle shaping benefits. The high recovery-low hysteresis characteristics of Invista’s Shaping technology, in particular, aims to enable optimal combinations of comfort, perfect contours and stylish good looks.
