North America’s largest apparel fabrics show Texworld USA presents its complimentary three-day seminar programme, presented by Lenzing Innovation, which will offer presentations ranging from sourcing, trends to sustainability and fibres.
The event will be taking place at the Javits Center, in New York, from 21-23 January 2014. Tricia Carey, USA Merchandising Manager, Lenzing Fibers, commented: “Lenzing organises the Texworld USA seminar series based on the latest industry topics within trends, sourcing, fabric innovations, sustainability and small business development.”
“This seminar programme offers insight to the current state of the industry, as well as providing the latest information in sustainability, sourcing, trends and a focus on small business,” explained Kristy Meade, Group Show Director of Messe Frankfurt USA.
Spring/Summer 2015
The seminar programme will start on 21 January with ‘Navigating Texworld USA’ that will allow attendees to make the most of the show using skill and insight learned in this seminar.
The ‘Stylesight’s Megatrends Spring/Summer 2015’ will decipher lifestyle and culture trends that will impact design and product development, expressed in a comprehensive presentation, complete with fresh colour palettes, directional prints and materials, and more.
Innovative and comprehensive
Lenzing Fibers, Cotton and Dystar have been developing innovative denim products. The ‘Denim Innovation’ will provide visitors with the information about the latest innovations and how they fit into today’s sustainability initiatives.
The ‘Speed and Movement of Color for Spring/Summer 2015’ will see a realm of vintage and modern, where colour stories turn mid-toned, shades blur and merge, and classic shades are balanced by some more unusual hues. All the while light effects act to energise and animate.
Stories of the year
The highlights of the second day of the seminar programme include ‘Breaking News - The Top Textile and Apparel Stories’, with Edward Hertzman, founder and publisher of Sourcing Journal Online, reviewing the most pressing apparel and textile stories of the year.
He will pay especially close attention to those issues that reverberated across the sourcing supply chain, including the Rana Plaza tragedy and the newfound emphasis on compliance, the emergence of rivals to China as a sourcing destination, the impact of free trade agreements like the TPP on global sourcing and the latest trends such as factory direct, fast fashion and private label.
What’s in your clothes?
Every day you and your company face new regulations, from California Proposition 65 (Prop 65), the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), the Washington State Children’s Safe Products Act (CSPA) to the new California Safer Consumer Products Regulations.
The session entitled ‘What’s in Your Clothes?’ will explore how these regulations impact you and discover the resources available to facilitate your compliance, from AAFA’s Restricted Substances List (RSL) to AFIRMs chemical management tools.
Global sourcing is a complicated matrix of countries, products and regulations. The panel of international experts at the ‘Global Sourcing’ seminar will provide recommendations on how to successfully source worldwide.
Business opportunities
USTR Assistant Trade Representative, Gail Strickler will give an overview on trade policy and on-going negotiations on the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).
‘The Business of Trends’ seminar will give an insight into out how trends can create solid business results. Another session, ‘Fashion Industry ABC’, is geared towards helping emerging fashion designers, as well as retailers who want to start their own fashion or private label line.
