NIFTNational Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bangalore, one of the premier fashion institutes of India unveiled Design Showcase 2009, the year’s most awaited event. The annual event had on show the graduation collection, a creative statement by the students of Fashion Design, Accessory Design & Textile Design. The event was organized as two concurrent shows in Fashion Design and Accessory Design & Textile Design.

The ramp showcased the trendsetting designs of the students from the Fashion & Design department, while the exhibition on accessories, designs & textiles showcased the creativity of the students from the Accessory Design & Textile Design department. The carefully crafted ensembles and collections reflect the new trends the young designers will be offering to the Indian fashion industry in the near future.

Design Showcase 2009 is a true festival of fashion, where creative talent of the graduating batch of young designers is celebrated. Design Showcase 2009 is the platform which offers a significant step for the graduating students towards becoming the trendsetting designers, brand builders and technical consultants of tomorrow. 

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Rajiv Takru, I.A.S, Director General, NIFT, said: “I am very privileged to present the NIFT’s talent to the world and Design Showcase 2009 is the signature statement made by our graduating batch of young designers from NIFT, Bangalore.” He added, “On the myriad canvas of apparel, accessory and textile, it marks their journey along with their alma mater in realizing the diverse cultures and ethnicity which makes Indian fashion so unique.”

Ms. Kakarla Usha, IAS, Director, NIFT Bangalore, said: “Design showcase 2009 is the stepping stone for NIFT design graduates into the world of Fashion design. The young designers move beyond the realm of the ramp today to emulate the many influential graduates who have created and sustained successful labels over the years.”

“Students use this Design Showcase platform to present their signature style and statement. These creative endeavours are backed by sound technical skills and sharp trend judgement, making the event a holistic homecoming to fashion”, the Director further added.

The winners of the awards in the various categories of Fashion Design, Accessory Design & Textile Design were felicitated at this glittering spectacle organized by NIFT, Bangalore.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology was set up in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It has emerged as the premier Institute of Design, Management and Technology, developing professionals for taking up leadership positions in fashion business in the emerging global scenario.
