This year will once again see a showcase of textile designers selected to participate in the prestigious Texprint professional mentoring programme at the professional trade event that takes place from 6-7 July at the Chelsea College of Art & Design, Millbank, London.

More than 20 textile design graduates, chosen by influential professionals from across the spectrum of the textile industries to become the Texprint 2016 alumni, will present their exciting portfolio collections to the fashion, interiors and related textile industries at this trade only event.

Recognition

After rounds of rigorous interviews, from more than 200 applicants, Texprint selected 24 exceptional textile design graduates to benefit from its mentoring programme.

The 2016 Texprint Alumni receive professional advice about career development and the opportunity to showcase their work in London in July and later at Premiere Vision Designs in Paris in September and Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics in October.

The highly regarded Texprint Awards, supported by global brands and organisations, are presented in Paris and frequently presage the start of an exciting, high profile career in the textile industries.

Future potential

The Texprint programme, funded by industry and charitable institutions, has helped close to 1,000 new designers launch their careers in over 40 years since its launch.

Texprint’s alumni have gone on to establish their own brands, such as fashion designer Alice Temperley and scarf designer Emma J Shipley. Some alumni also set up design studios, including Kirsty McDougall of Dashing Tweeds and knitwear designer Sophie Steller; or have joined the creative departments of international design houses and major retailers, like Givenchy, Tom Ford, Roland Mouret and Marks & Spencer.
