With an outstanding 110% increase in submissions from all continents, 31 countries and 82 fashion and design schools worldwide, the Frankfurt STYLE AWARD is entering a league of internationally renowned and recognized contests for fashion and design newcomers, organisers report.

International participants

Half of the applications come from countries outside of Germany. Along with Italy, the partner country this year, Singapore, Spain and Ireland ranked in the top five countries with the most applications submitted.

An independent jury will decide who is invited to the Finale and Award Ceremony that takes place on 4 September 2015. The 60 best designers will make it into the final round – 20 in each of the categories Blue Revolution, ECOlogical Green, and Over the Rainbow.

Qualitative leap

“This year’s Call for Entry is not only a quantitative leap for the Frankfurt STYLE AWARD, but a qualitative one as well,” said Hannemie Stitz-Krämer, Founder of the International Talent Contest.

“Applications from renowned fashion and design schools – among them eight of the 50 best schools worldwide – have made this year’s competition fierce. Who will be invited to the Finale and Gala at the Frankfurt Airport on 4 September 2015 is going to be a tough decision for the Frankfurt STYLE AWARD jury.”

Selection process

The eight-member jury is led by Chair Salvatore Di Bella and Dominique Deroche, former right hand of Yves Saint Laurent and current representative of the Fondation Pierre Bergé Yves Saint Laurent. The jury will individually examine and rate each application based on creativity, innovation and feasibility. The 60 designs with the most points will be nominated for the final round in September.

Finalists not only have the chance to win an Award of Distinction and prizes worth up to 50,000 euro, but will also be part of the Frankfurt STYLE AWARD Collection 2015, Pioneering Destiny, which will premiere on the runway during the Frankfurt STYLE AWARD Gala.

After the Finale Show and Gala, the Frankfurt STYLE AWARD Collection 2015 will travel to Paris, Milan and Berlin for additional exhibitions and runway shows. The winner of the Outstanding Talent 2015 will receive an once-in-a-lifetime fashion trip to Italy.

Pioneering Destiny

This year’s Motto 2015 asked young designers to pioneer fashion of tomorrow by submitting their most innovative and creative ideas in at least one of three categories. In the category Blue Revolution, fashion newcomers seized the spirit of the industrial revolution, submitting modern-day and futuristic workers’ blues.

Designers showed no creative boundaries in ECOlogical Green, concerning themselves with the environment and sustainability in their eco-friendly designs. An eclectic mix of styles, patterns, colours and cuts have been submitted to Over the Rainbow, demonstrating the breadth of talent in the international design community.
