In October 2022, Amsterdam based BYBORRE launched a new global initiative called Window of Textile Opportunities (WoTO), together with a consortium of partners to democratize the textile supply chain to global and emerging brands, industry trailblazers and young talent.

The WoTO showroom represents a worldwide transparent ecosystem of supply chain stakeholders and industry changemakers, housing permanent exhibitions of the partners. Borre Akkersdijk, Co-founder of BYBORRE, together with WoTO Partners join the conversation at the New York Textile Month (NYTM) Panel Discussion on ‘Why the WoTO collaboration is leading to pathways forward for all plays in the textile industry.’ Moderated by Noah Trager from FIT, they will dive into why collaboration is important in changing the textiles industry.

Since 2015, textile innovation studio BYBORRE has been rewriting the rules of responsible textile creation by digitizing the design and production process and introducing Textile-as-a-Service with its platform BYBORRE Create. Create serves as the portal between the physical and digital worlds of the textile industry, enabling brands, designers and creators around the world to design bespoke and responsible textiles from pixel to needle. Providing direct access to textile creation technology and a transparent overview of the textile’s journey at every step of the process, Create puts creative freedom and control over impact back into the hands of the creator.

As part of the BYBORRE ecosystem, WoTO is a physical translation of the BYBORRE mission to enable and educate creators to design textiles responsibly. The WoTO showroom and event space represents a worldwide transparent network of supply chain stakeholders and industry innovators who are driven by an open-source mindset and together, challenge the textile industry to embrace a new world of design possibilities. Celebrating democratised innovations, supply chain accessibility and material transparency, WoTO connects a community of like-minded people by giving access to tools, inspiration and education to activate real change.
