Christian Eschler AG will be making an impact with its new collection for the 2009/2010 winter season. The Swiss specialist in knitted fabrics is providing sport and outdoor clothing manufacturers with trendy inspiration for their new winter creations.

Prints add colour to the collection

Creative print designs in new colours are typical for this collection. Stylish prints with varying script and plaid patterns characterise a variety of fabrics. Product developer Markus Lutz summarises the advantages of the company’s own thermo-print process: “Compared to other methods, with our prints the fabric remains soft and smooth, which is particularly important and valuable for knitted fabrics.”

“Loop Push” effect for fleece fabrics

With five fabrics in the “Loop Push style” made of 100% polyester, Eschler manages to make a new visual development in the fleece segment. These fabrics designed for cold seasons are not only characterised by their excellent heat retention and body temperature balancing breathability, but also offer a high level of durability, which is unusual for fleece fabrics.

Use of these fabrics in jackets and pullovers is an application which is particularly ideal, since the fabrics are also “low pill” thanks to a special finishing process.

In recent times alternative materials for threads have been in the limelihgt. The discussion on the scarcity of food and correspondingly increasing prices have led Eschler to do away with threads that are made from corn, bamboo, coconut, lactose and similar materials.

“We cannot justify selling textiles that lead to food shortages in poorer countries. Consumers are also becoming more and more sensitive to such products and are consciously choosing not to buy,” says Philip Schär, Head of Sales at Eschler. “That is why we are concentrating fully on PCR threads, which are made of recycled polyester.”

Ecological water repellent

Eschler was one of the first manufacturers of knitted fabrics to produce its products in accordance with bluesign® standards. The transition to ecologically conscious water repellent is another consistent step towards making the manufacturing process more protective of resources.

Thus production of the respective fabrics is now done completely without C8 chemicals; intense work is currently being done on developing a fluorocarbon-free alternative. The Eschler knitted fabrics not only make trendy, fashionable statements, they also provide clear inspiration, so there can be even more ecological responsibility in the future.
