Luxury British cashmere specialist N.Peal has announced a new collaboration with The Laundress, a New York-based brand specialising in sustainable cleaning solutions to keep investment pieces looking their best.
Available in-store and online, the collaboration features nine products designed to care for high-quality cashmere. The Laundress range includes a cedar-infused cashmere wash, a wooden cashmere comb to de-pill delicate items, and durable storage bags to protect precious items when packed away for the season and away from pesky Moths.
All the products in the range are plant-derived, free of environmentally harmful chemicals such as petroleum, phthalates, phosphate or parabens, and avoid artificial colours, dyes or unnecessary additives, according to the company. “At N.Peal, our vision is to become the global destination for sustainable luxury cashmere, upholding our trusted reputation for integrity and quality. We have launched several initiatives to maintain sustainability at N.Peal, and this collaboration with The Laundress is a joint effort that demonstrates that luxury doesn’t have to cost the earth,” commented Adam Holdsworth, Managing Director of N.Peal.
“From using only cashmere sourced from sustainable Mongolian herders, to investigating natural plant dyes and reducing the use of plastic across our business, at N.Peal we are determined to deliver long-term sustainability solutions that encourage real change within the luxury sector.”
The news comes only months after the opening of N.Peal’s first US store, located on Madison Avenue, New York City and not far from The Laundress store in Lower Manhattan. The collaboration came about from a chance introduction between Holdsworth and The Laundress co-founders Gwen Whiting and Lindsey Boyd. Whiting and Boyd created the brand after successful careers in the luxury sector, having spotted a gap in the market for effective, non-toxic cleaning products.
“From correctly storing your cashmere, to washing and removing stains, this range will help keep your favourite pieces in perfect condition for years to come, safe in the knowledge that all our products are ecologically certified,” said Gwen Whiting and Lindsey Boyd. “The high concentration of these products means that less packaging, energy and water is used, making the range a more sustainable choice to extend the life of your cashmere wardrobe.”
Established as a quintessentially London brand, with the flagship Burlington Arcade store the brand’s home since 1936, N.Peal founder Nat Peal made regular visits to the USA when establishing the N.Peal name. The brand continues to grow, with the launch of a US website and further locations being considered in New York’s fashionable Soho district, as well as additional European stores in Paris and Munich.
