GG Fashion (Cambodia) Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of global textile manufacturer Ghim Li Global Pte Ltd., has achieved a 1- 2% increase in production efficiencies following the adoption of Coats Digital’s GSDCost solution. The implementation has streamlined costing and planning processes, eliminated overtime, and enhanced employee morale.
Specialising in casual lifestyle fashion, GG Fashion produces over one million garments annually with a workforce of more than 2,200 employees. Its customers include major retailers such as Macy’s, Footlocker, Walmart, and Aeropostale. Before implementing GSDCost, the company faced challenges with high production costs, inconsistent sewing outputs, and inefficient pre-production planning, leading to late deliveries and increased costs.
Wong Chen Hau (Jackson), Continuous Improvement Manager at GG Fashion, noted: “Our previous reliance on historical data led to unreliable efficiency targets, high defect rates, and unplanned overtime costs. Without a clear capacity platform, we incurred additional expenses to meet delivery deadlines, negatively impacting our profit margins.”
GG Fashion struggled with skill level inconsistencies among sewing machine operators, affecting productivity and quality control. Darshana Sanjeewa, Industrial Engineering Supervisor, stated: “Before GSDCost, we faced difficulties in maintaining consistent quality, sometimes having to use inferior materials to meet deadlines, which affected customer satisfaction.”
With GSDCost, the company has established international standard time and cost benchmarks, improving communication between sales, costing, planning, and production teams. Wong highlighted: “The integration of GSDCost has enhanced collaboration, improved planning accuracy, and reduced late shipments.”
Standardising production line motion handling has led to a 1-2% efficiency gain within four months, reducing production costs and increasing productivity. Improved quality control and On-Time Delivery Performance (OTDP) have also strengthened customer satisfaction and minimised penalties for late shipments.
Darshana Sanjeewa added: “Coats Digital’s GSDCost has significantly increased our productivity and reliability. Accurate performance targets and optimised production processes have not only improved our profit margins but also raised staff morale.”
GG Fashion expects further improvements in Standard-Minute-Values (SMVs) by the end of the year. Coats Digital’s GSDCost solution is widely recognised in the sewn products industry for optimising cost prediction and manufacturing processes while supporting corporate social responsibility commitments.
