Maredimoda will disclose the beachwear and underwear summer trends for 2016 in a world premiere, based on a survey and study carried out by David Shah, the popular trend forecaster. The international trade fair dedicated to underwear and beachwear textiles is taking place at the Palais Des Festival in Cannes from 11-13 November.

A burst of energy

According to Maredimoda, the Summer 2016 season is a tribute to optimism and pure energy – conventions slacken and schemes are beaten down. After years of uncertainties counting for a rather cautious and fearful approach as shown by past collections, we are now entering so far rather unexplored universes, organisers say.

As to the beachwear, four main themes have been taken into account. Jungle Fever has been created for a high-spirited mood inspired by the central African jungle universe, with conflicting patterns and bravely disharmonic suggestions. Rave Couture instead takes us into syncopated geometrical spaces featured by mixed pop patterns and strong colours.

Memphis Sport recalls the contest mood of the beachwear with plenty of room dedicated to the technical aspects of fabrics and significant attention devoted to the combination of sculpture and geometry. Brutal Glam on the other hand, is more involved in the yearning for future where a new-age, strong, heroic, aggressive, intergalactic woman is featured by metal and spread-over dark colours.

Underwear trends

Underwear trends are disclosed into two key-themes. Artist’s Garden takes us by hand into the atelier of a romantic bohémien designer offering an appealing arts and crafts mood and a colour spectrum ranging from pale pink to earth colours.

Finally, Sensory theme stands out with its well-outlined and well-shaping, as well as soft and enveloping curves.
