New Patent - Shima Seiki, Japan - Method of measuring elastic characteristics of kitting yarn and knitting machine
Abstract of WO2008032451 Publication date: 20 March 2008 A method of measuring the elastic characteristics of a knitting yarn capable of self-evaluating the characteristics of an elastic yarn in use by a knitting machine, and a knitting machine. When a yarn feed roller (16) is reverse-rotated with the tip end of a knitting yarn (5) held with a gripper (7), the tension of the knitting yarn (5) between the yarn feed roller (16) and the gripper (7) can be increased. Free length of the knitting yarn

Abstract of WO2008032451
Publication date: 20 March 2008
A method of measuring the elastic characteristics of a knitting yarn capable of self-evaluating the characteristics of an elastic yarn in use by a knitting machine, and a knitting machine. When a yarn feed roller (16) is reverse-rotated with the tip end of a knitting yarn (5) held with a gripper (7), the tension of the knitting yarn (5) between the yarn feed roller (16) and the gripper (7) can be increased. Free length of the knitting yarn (5) remaining in a distance W section under this yarn tension T is W-d assuming the returned length of the fed knitting yarn (5) is d when the yarn feed roller (16) is forward-rotated to return a yarn tension to a lower limit or lower in the vicinity of 0. Since an elongation percentage under yarn tension T is W/(W-d) OE100%, a flat-knitting machine (1) is used to be able to self-evaluate the elastic characteristics of the knitting yarn (5).
