Socially conscious socks manufacturing company FutureStitch is expanding its manufacturing plant in Oceanside, California and exploring community partners for its justice-impacted employee program, Boss Stitch.
After launching its first-ever US manufacturing plant in 2021, FutureStitch has confirmed it will be acquiring the building next door (622 Airport Road) to its current facility, by the end of May.
FutureStitch, which also has a purpose-built, LEED Platinum-certified facility near Shanghai, China, is a cutting-edge socks producer partnering with some of the biggest names in fashion including Stance, TOMS, Crocs, Everlane, and more to create specialised, durable sock designs. Prior to launching FutureStitch, founder and CEO Taylor Shupe was a co-founder of Stance and he has also served as Vice Chairman for Yeezy.
Along with the rapid growth and expansion, FutureStitch is continuing to challenge the notion that manufacturing jobs are a thing of the past. FutureStitch has developed a program called Boss Stitch to hire formerly incarcerated employees and now, over 50% of the Oceanside staff are formerly incarcerated.
The Boss Stitch program has grown significantly since its inception in 2022. FutureStitch has teamed up with some local businesses to build out the program. Now, employees have the opportunity to participate in: herbal medicine course and garden, in collaboration with Moonvalley Nurseries; self-defence classes with Gracie Barra; motivational sessions with formal gold medal weightlifter and mental toughness coach Laura Eiman; meditation classes; and a book club.
FutureStitch is also interested in partnering with additional local organizations to further build out the Boss Stitch program and other employee activities at Oceanside.
