HanesBrands, a global leader in iconic apparel brands, has announced that Chief Executive Officer Steve Bratspies will step down at the end of 2025 or upon the appointment of his successor. The company’s Board of Directors has commenced a comprehensive search for the next CEO, enlisting executive search firm Spencer Stuart to assist in the process. Bratspies will also resign from the Board of Directors at the conclusion of his tenure and will remain in an advisory role to ensure a smooth transition.

Bill Simon, Chairman of the Board, commented: “Having reached a positive and important inflection point in executing our strategy and looking ahead to the next leg of the company’s journey, the Board, in concurrence with Steve, has decided that now is the right time to initiate a search for our next CEO.”

He praised Bratspies for leading HanesBrands through a turbulent period, overhauling the operating model, completing the sale of the Champion business, and positioning the company as a global powerhouse in basics and innerwear.

Reflecting on his tenure, Bratspies said: “Leading HanesBrands over the past five years has been an honour. Since joining as CEO, working alongside our talented global team, we have significantly simplified and strengthened our business.” He expressed confidence in the company’s future, highlighting its consistent top-line growth, higher margins, and strong cash generation.

Bratspies will continue to lead the global team until his departure, focusing on delivering for consumers and retail partners while advancing growth initiatives.

In a separate announcement, HanesBrands released its fourth-quarter and full-year 2024 financial results. The company hosted an investor conference call on February 13, 2025, to discuss these outcomes.
