Italian technical socks specialist Pieffe Sport has introduced a new concept in functional socks for running and trekking. The Verona based company’s Bee 1 functional socks combine ThermoCool technology from Advansa together with carbon, a material with known antibacterial and antistatic properties.

The new Bee 1 sock range is said to be the result of Pieffe Sport´s unique ability to construct knit structures which prevent friction, whilst providing protection and improved comfort. Pieffe targets softness, temperature control and optimum moisture management in order to keep feet at the highest levels of comfort, so that athletes can perform better.

Its continuous search for new technical fibres has led to Pieffe Sport working with leading suppliers of technical yarns and the latest Bee 1 concept uses ThermoCool yarn which has a blend of fibres with different cross sections inside the yarn, which aim to help the sock avoid moisture build-up in demanding conditions. ThermoCool is said to help regulate temperature and manage moisture to keep feet dry and comfortable for long periods of time, meeting the demanding requirements of running and trekking professionals.

Bee 1 socks also contain carbon, which allows discharge of static which builds up due to friction between sock and shoe. Carbon in the yarn also provides antibacterial protection and reduces foot odour. Pieffe’s Sport’s running socks are made in a fine soft construction for better fit and with a small terry loops in the sole for maximum comfort whilst promoting air circulation beneath the foot. Trekking socks feature a special comfort knit construction, which is said to prevent friction and allow better movement of the foot.
