Changes in Clariants Board of Directors

The Board of Directors will propose to the Annual General Meeting to elect Dominik Koechlin, Hariolf Kottmann and Carlo G. Soave to the Board of Directors. The Board plans to appoint Jürg Witmer as Chairman and Rudolf Wehrli as Vice-Chairman. The Board of Directors will propose to the Annual General Meeting to elect Dominik Koechlin, Hariolf Kottmann and Carlo G. Soave to the Board of Directors. The Board plans to appoint Jürg Witmer as Chairman and Rudolf Wehrli as Vice-Chairman. Roland Lösser, Clariant’s Chairman, will, as communicated earlier, for personal reasons, not stand for reelection. Furthermore Tony Reis, Clariant’s Vice-Chairman, will retire from the Board, and Kajo Neukirchen, member of the Board of Directors, will not stand for reelection at the Annual General Meeting on April 10, 2008.

“I am very pleased that with Dominik Koechlin, Hariolf Kottmann and Carlo Soave three excellent personalities have agreed to serve on our Board”, commented Roland Lösser, Clariant’s Chairman. “They represent a younger generation of business leaders who have gathered their experience in an increasingly globalizing economic environment. Therefore they are in an ideal position to support Clariant in coping with the challenges ahead. I am also very pleased that Jürg Witmer and Rudolf Wehrli are prepared to take on the leading roles on our Board. Clariant will benefit from their professional experience.”

Dominik Koechlin (49, Swiss citizen) is a law graduate with an MBA from INSEAD. He has served on the board of several listed companies including EGL, Crucell, Swissmetal, and several privately-held companies. He was a member of the Executive Board of Swisscom.

Hariolf Kottman (52, German citizen) is a chemist by training. He has held senior management positions at Hoechst AG, Celanese and is currently with SGL Carbon, where he is a member of the management board.

Carlo Soave (48, British citizen) is currently CEO of the Albis Group, based in Italy. Previously he has held a number senior management positions at Procter & Gamble.

Jürg Witmer (59, Swiss citizen) has served on the Clariant board since April 2007. He was CEO of the Givaudan Group from 1999 to 2005, where he is now Chairman. Previously he held senior global management positions at Roche. He is also a member of the Board of Directors at Syngenta.

Rudolf Wehrli (58, Swiss citizen) was CEO of the Gurit-Heberlein-Group from 2000 – 2006. He has held various senior management positions at the Silent Gliss Group, Credit Suisse and McKinsey.

Provided approval of Clariant’s Annual General Meeting, the board will comprise:
