Karl Mayer has reported strong growth in India over the past 18 months and says it has up to 80% of the market and is still expanding its position. The German company says it has responded to the growing importance of the country by offering a “projected development of its supply of services, training programmes and new machine construction as well as an improved spare parts service”.

The new premises which Karl Mayer opened in Surat facilitate an even closer contact to the company’s customers. The building was recently taken on by Karl Mayer and includes its own academy as well as a new service office of A.T.E., the company’s sales representative in India, completing the Karl Mayer service branch in India founded in 2009 in Mumbai.

Support from HQ

According to Karl Mayer, the support offered by the team of technicians and service engineers in Surat has become faster and has developed more competence on the machines for all business sectors. If required, specialists are supported by Karl Mayer’s German headquarters.

Apart from increased service activities, the renowned German machine builder has also shown by the introduction of its 3rd generation HKS 3-M, that it is completely aware of the needs of Indian textile manufacturers.

“These are three measures for strengthening the Indian warp knitting industry officially launched on 30th June. This day, Karl Mayer invited their customers into the Surat stronghold of textiles in order to inaugurate the training and service centre and to experience the innovative HKS 3-M in action,” Karl Mayer explained.

Nearly 200 guests arrived to visit the celebratory get-together. They were welcomed by Fritz P. Mayer, manager of the Karl Mayer group and Anuj Bhagwati, manager of A.T.E. Both men gave a short welcoming speech and emphasized the importance of the long and trustful collaboration of their enterprises. Karl Mayer and A.T.E. have been business partners for 55 years.

New HKS 3-M

After welcoming the guests, the new HKS 3-M was unveiled by raising the curtain on a model with a working width of 230 inches in E 28.

Afterwards, guests were given a tour of the premises and presented with details of the new service office and the Karl Mayer Academy – a visit which is said to have received a lot of interest.

“The customers were very soon aware of the value of the services available for their daily business and will make sure that the technical specialists in Surat will be fully occupied within a short time,” Karl Mayer said.

All the opening and inaugural activities were accompanied by traditional ceremonies with Fritz P. Mayer cutting the ribbon. Following Indian tradition a lamp was lit with two candles and a coconut was broken, a tradition upheld at the opening of any new enterprise which to appease the Gods.

The eventful afternoon ended with a cocktail reception and dinner in the Sea Rock Hotel in Daman which is situated two hours away from Surat. Guests are said to have enjoyed the beautiful view over the Devka Beach, delicious food and drinks and inspiring conversations. Guests also had the opportunity to talk with Fritz P. Mayer, Arno Gärtner, head of the warp knitting business division and with Oliver Mathews.

Once again, with the presentation of their future-oriented activities in India on 30th June, Karl Mayer has made history for many of their customers – and has already taken measures for the continuation,” karl Mayer said in a statement.

Karl Mayer will be exhibiting at the India ITME in Mumbai from 2nd to 7th December, showing a wide machine range and new fabric developments.
