According to leading warp knitting machine builder Karl Mayer, its RD 6/1-12 and RD 7/2-12 (EL) models are the machines of choice when it comes to efficiently producing high-quality, warp-knitted spacer fabrics of medium thickness.
The RD series machines are available in gauges E 18, E 22 and E 24, in a working width of 138 inches and with a maximum distance between the knock-over comb bars of 12 mm.
A system for centrally adjusting the distance between the knock-over comb bars has been integrated into the design of the machine in order to fully exploit the potential for accurately changing the thickness of the warp-knitted fabric using the fewest possible operations.
The unit for easily setting the distance between them for changing the thickness of the warp-knitted fabric also carries out the required readjustment of the stitch comb automatically.
Karl Mayer says a clever handling system also enables the stitch comb to be swivelled out easily. The system, which is operated by a lever, permits free access to the knitting elements, for example if a yarn breaks, so that there is no need to unscrew any parts, which takes time and effort.
The only manual work that has to be carried out is to adapt the knock-over comb bar distance to suit the height of the needle bar. The new ergonomic system is available on all the machines ordered as of 1 July this year and whereas it is available on the RD 7/2-12 EL as standard, it is an optional feature on the RD 7/2-12 and the RD 6/1-12.
