By using recycled carbon dioxide as the application medium, DyeCoo’s innovative technology completely eliminates the use of water in the textile dyeing process. However, the new technology requires innovation in dye and chemical products as the applications expand in order to obtain the high level of colour fastness and performance that consumers demand and this is where Huntsman comes in.

Potential to revolutionise textile manufacturing

“Our track record in innovation, sustainability and quality underpinned by our global presence puts us in a great position to support this emerging technology. We believe that this technology has the potential to revolutionise textile manufacturing and we are excited to partner with like-minded and progressive partners like DyeCoo to make sustainable dye and chemical innovations more readily available throughout the industry,” commented Mr Steve Gray, Global Vice President of Research and Technology at Huntsman Textile Effects.

“This collaboration is a reinforcement of both companies’ long-term strategy and deep commitment to innovation and sustainability.”

Reinier Mommaal, CEO/Co Founder of DyeCoo Textile Systems commented: “The roll-out of new revolutionary technology in the textile industry cannot be done without the right partners.  The first new products introduced with Huntsman Textile Effects will be in the areas of Finishing products and Fluorescent Brightners. The track record of Huntsman regarding innovation and sustainability makes them a preferred partner for us.”

In February this year Nike announced a strategic partnership with DyeCoo which it said is illustrative of its long-term commitment to designing and developing the most superior athletic performance products for athletes and its overall sustainable business and innovation strategy.

“Waterless dyeing is a significant step in our journey to serve both the athlete and the planet, and this partnership reinforces Nike’s long-term strategy and deep commitment to innovation and sustainability,” Nike’s Vice President of Merchandising and Product Eric Sprunk said at the time.

“We believe this technology has the potential to revolutionize textile manufacturing, and we want to collaborate with progressive dye houses, textile manufacturers and consumer apparel brands to scale this technology and push it throughout the industry,” Sprunk said.

DyeCoo Textile Systems is thought to be the world's first commercial supplier of industrial CO2 dyeing equipment and is a leading innovator in CO2 dyeing technology and processes. The company was founded in March 2008 and is a spin-off of the Dutch Feyecon Group, an innovator in the field of CO2- process technology.

Huntsman Textile Effects is a global leader in developing total textile solutions across all aspects of the textile chain and a committed player in developing sustainable, high performing processing and effects chemicals with low environmental impact.
