The spring 2025 edition of the Functional Fabric Fair, powered by Performance Days, delivered a strong industry statement amidst ongoing global supply chain volatility. Held from 14–16 April at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, the event saw a 9% increase in attendance and a 30% expansion in exhibition space, bringing together over 320 sustainably certified suppliers with sourcing teams from global brands such as Adidas, Patagonia, REI, Nike, and Vuori.

Organised by Germany-based Design & Development GmbH Textile Consult, the fair responded to a continued demand for stable and transparent sourcing. “In times of economic uncertainty and continued volatility in global supply chains, the 100% exhibitor participation underscores the relevance of our event,” said Steve McCullough, Event Vice President.

The Portland edition ran in parallel with Performance Days in Munich and featured a robust array of curated content and focused theme zones. These included the AATCC Textile Test Zone, Innovation Zone, Wool Forum, Sustainability Lounge, and Bodywear Collective, among others. A unique collaboration with Utah State University brought the Outdoor Recreation Archive to life, highlighting the evolution of technical outdoor apparel.

The sold-out DAY 0 Sustainability Workshop set the tone for the event, with keynote speaker Jill Dumain addressing the crucial topic of material traceability. Throughout the fair, Expert Talks, guided tours, and designer-led demonstrations such as Design Lab Live with Kelley Dempsey added value for attendees.

“The Functional Fabric Fair is an essential industry meeting point for forward-thinking sourcing,” noted Cassia Lewis Cameron of Patagonia. “It streamlines our process and connects us with innovation partners we trust.” John Holiday of YKK USA echoed the sentiment, praising the fair as “an efficient platform for productive meetings with key industry stakeholders.”

With its growing reputation as a pivotal sourcing event, the Functional Fabric Fair continues to bridge innovation, sustainability, and supply chain resilience for the global textile sector.
