The 13th edition of MarediModa, the international trade fair dedicated to lingerie and beachwear textiles and accessories, will be held from 11-13 November at the Palais Des Festivals in Cannes, exhibiting the 2016 summer collections by over 100 European companies.
With a focus on the European production, a delegation of fast-fashion garment makers from the Euro-Mediterranean area will offer a qualified alternative to the more exotic and quite often less reliable productions.
Back to Europe
“Based on their quite negative or at least no longer profitable experiences, more and more medium- and large-sized companies in the beachwear and underwear sectors have decided to go back to buy European textiles and if needed, they are having their garments made in Northern Africa or Eastern Europe,” said Marco Borioli, President of Maredimoda.
“Our main objective has always consisted in educating our customers to make a quality, ethical and responsible choice. By now, stores all over the world are full of valueless imported products, made in unthinkable conditions. Today indeed mass-production has caused a market saturation with any kind of low-cost products whose value we do not even understand”.
Promoting European quality
“Companies are following our example, insomuch as to let our trade fair be the only one whose number of visitors keeps the same while increasing the exhibiting area,” said Borioli.
“Our mission is clear and known. We shall go on protecting, enhancing and promoting the European quality which, more and more, is standing out as an absolute value inside an ordinary and standardised universe; furthermore we shall emphasise and underline the customer service offered by our exhibitors who are really capable of serving and supporting their customers with the utmost attention.”
“Maredimoda shall act as a quality zipper between the world of semi-finished products and garment-making and the world of outsourcing; by connecting the two worlds we will offer retailers a top-class supply chain that will represent both a quality trademark and a protected designation of origin.”
Attendance
This year, in collaboration with ICE (the Italian Trade Agency) and Sistema Moda Italia, the trade fair organisers have stipulated an agreement aimed at inviting the leading buyers from the United States.
Two great reference groups will attend the exhibition: Asahi Kasei with its information desk and Invista with its video installation presenting the company’s news in the field as well as its dedicated lounge area.
MarediModa will focus on innovation by leaving room to Human Solutions, the avant-garde German company exhibiting its range of 3D body scanners and fashion-oriented applications as well as the Swiss 3D AG and its evolutionary oleographic labels for garment traceability.
