ShinWon Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of knitted apparel, has secured approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its comprehensive Net-Zero emissions strategy. The milestone solidifies ShinWon’s position as an industry leader in sustainable practices, with clear commitments to achieving Net-Zero emissions by 2050 and interim targets for 2030.

The SBTi, a collaboration between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), UN Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), supports corporate climate action aligned with the Paris Agreement. ShinWon’s approved targets focus on reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its entire value chain, covering Scopes 1, 2, and 3.

We are advancing initiatives such as solar energy expansion, EV infrastructure development, and energy efficiency improvements to meet our Net-Zero goals

By 2030, ShinWon aims to cut direct (Scope 1) and energy-related (Scope 2) emissions by 42% compared to 2022 levels. The company also commits to reducing value chain emissions (Scope 3) by 42% within the same timeframe. By 2050, ShinWon plans to eliminate Scope 1 and 2 emissions entirely and achieve a 90% reduction in Scope 3 emissions.

ShinWon has already made significant strides in renewable energy adoption. Solar power systems installed at its production facilities in Indonesia, Guatemala, and Nicaragua now generate over 40% of on-site renewable energy. The company also leverages Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) to source 100% renewable electricity in Vietnam and Indonesia, with plans to expand this practice globally.

To further reduce its carbon footprint, ShinWon is implementing sustainable procurement policies and incorporating eco-friendly materials across its supply chain. These measures align with its long-term commitment to reduce Scope 3 emissions while promoting circular economy practices through initiatives like recycled fabric development and wastewater recycling.

JJ Park, CEO of ShinWon Corporation, emphasises the company’s proactive approach: “We are advancing initiatives such as solar energy expansion, EV infrastructure development, and energy efficiency improvements to meet our Net-Zero goals. These efforts are integral to our ESG strategy and reflect our dedication to sustainable management for a better future.”

ShinWon is also actively collaborating with key global fashion brands to develop and produce environmentally responsible knitwear, sweaters, and other apparel. These partnerships underscore the company’s role as a trusted manufacturing partner for brands prioritizing sustainability in their sourcing strategies.

Founded in 1973, ShinWon Corporation is a prominent Korean fashion company with operations spanning Korea, China, and key global markets. With manufacturing facilities in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, and Bangladesh, the company produces high-quality knitwear and other apparel for leading international brands.
