GlobalTex announces seminar and special event schedule

Globaltex at LACCMarket Center Management Company (MCMC), the management company of GlobalTex: LA International Textile & Sourcing Fair, has announced its schedule of seminars and special events for the upcoming edition of GlobalTex. The show will be held from 28-30 September 2010 at the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC). 

“We are pleased to present a complete seminar line-up that offers a range of industry leaders discussing relevant topics,” said Cindy Morris, COO, MCMC. “Fiona Jenvey with Mudpie returns as our exclusive trend guru and we are happy to welcome back Doty Horn with Benjamin Moore. Making their West Coast debut are Martin Legner with Stoll America Knitting Machinery and Emanuelle Linard with Edelkoort. From panel discussions to trend information – GlobalTex covers all the hot topics.”

Tuesday, September 28

10:30 a.m. – Seminar: The Left Coast Approach to Color and Lifestyle Trends for Autumn/Winter 2011: presented by Fran and Arnold Sude, Design Options, The West Coast Perspective –

The Sudes will teach designers how to re-invent and think outside the box for success, with tips on how to see the future before competitors do and will offer a complimentary Season of Color to a lucky attendee.

12:15 p.m. – Seminar: Autumn/Winter 2011: Men’s Trend Focus: presented by Fiona Jenvey, CEO of Mudpie, Ltd. – UK trend specialist, Jenvey, will present an in-depth vision of global fashion trends for the young contemporary men’s, urban, casual and resort markets for Autumn/Winter 2011. The presentation includes three trends of inspirational garments, prints, graphics and color.

Stoll's Martin Legner1:30 p.m. – Seminar: From Sketch to Garment: Knit Design from Start to Finish: presented by Martin Legner, sales manager for Textile Applications and regional sales manager North America, STOLL America Knitting Machinery, Inc – Legner will present tips on how a global knitting machine manufacturer can find knit design solutions in a global sourcing atmosphere, how to create and push design ideas, where designers and purchasing departments can identify and implement design ideas effectively, how to aide designers and purchasing organizations in finding suppliers, and why support for Made in America brands are important.

2:45 p.m. – Seminar: Spring/Summer 2011: Global Denim Trend Focus: Fiona Jenvey, CEO of Mudpie, Ltd. – Jenvey will present an in-depth vision of global denim trends for the women’s and men’s denim directions for Spring/Summer 2011. The presentation will include inspirational denim garments and trends in washes, shapes and embellishments.

3 p.m. – Networking Event: Wine Tasting: – Attendees are invited to enjoy a glass of wine straight from the California wine country while having the opportunity to meet others and explore the great resources that GlobalTex exhibitors have to offer.

4 p.m. – Seminar: Women’s Runway Roadmap Autumn/Winter 2011: presented by Lyndsey Wong, West Coast trend director for Stylesight – Wong will present a clear and concise edit of Autumn/Winter 2010 runways with an eye toward Autumn/Winter 2011, offering five viable trends with key items, colors and accessories. Each trend will be linked to references from fashion history, film, art and important cultural movements.

10 a.m. – Seminar: Trend Union Autumn/Winter 2011/2012: Taking Flight: presented by Emanuelle Linard, EDELKOORT, Inc. – Linard will introduce the season’s trends and concepts, music that evokes the mood of the visual concepts, an in-depth look into the season’s fabric and color and silhouette trends.

12:15 p.m. – Seminar: Autumn/Winter 2011: Women Trend Focus: presented by Fiona Jenvey, CEO Mudpie, Ltd – Jenvey will present an in-depth vision of global fashion trends for the young contemporary women’s, urban, casual, denim and resort markets for Autumn/Winter 2011. 1:30 p.m. – Seminar: COLORPULSE 2012: presented by Doty Horn, director of future trends and design for Benjamin Moore – Horn will discuss the universal color trends and how these trends translate to all industries. Attendees will be among the first to see the colors for 2012, launched this month.

2:45 p.m. – Seminar: Woolworks International presents Coverage of Bread and Butter Berlin and The Brandery Barcelona: presented by Philippe Bertrand, Woolworks International – Bertrand will present the best sellers at two leading European trade shows and break the presentation down by classifications.

3 p.m. – Networking Event: Wine Tasting: – Attendees will have the opportunity to meet other buyers from the textile industry and enjoy wine from the California wine country.

4 p.m. – Panel Discussion: Your Legal Lifeline: Specialists Required: moderated by Ilse Metchek, president of California Fashion Association – A panel of experts will discuss the current issues and provide the information you must have to do business today. Topics covered will include Proposition 65/CPSIA and chemical testing, custom requirements and export regulations, labor law compliance and human resource issues, licensing requirements and intellectual property for trademark and copyright cases.
