For the next edition, taking place on 14, 15 and 16 September, Expofil says it is overcoming the challenges posed by the slowdown in business and company closures in the spinning sector over the past few years, and rediscovering a calmer business climate, as predicted by the rather encouraging results of the February 2010 show.
For the first time in two years, the show's organisers say its offer is demonstrating signs of recovery, with 39 spinners and fibre producers coming from 14 countries, an 8% increase over the September 2009 session. Among them is a return of seasonal businesses, in particular cotton specialists and the arrival of two new exhibitors.
Dupont Sorona (Switzerland): The American fibre producer presents its textile polymer produced partly from renewable sources. High-performance textiles made from this polymer can be used in the leisure/sports, ready-to-wear, swimwear and intimate apparel sectors.
Setcore Spinning (Egypt): A spinning mill producing classic cotton from ultra-fine Egyptian cotton. Single, double, compact, twist, ecru or dyed yarns for knitting and weaving, in counts from Ne 20 to Ne 200.
Beyond its strongly international profile, the principal characteristic behind the Expofil concept remains its deliberately non-sectoral approach and the balance maintained between the main spinning markets - weaving, flat knits, circular knits, intimate apparel, hosiery, furnishings, hand-knitting yarns, and technical and high-performance uses. Thus each visitor is guaranteed to find the right yarn for his own needs.
The spring-summer 2012 fashion information at Expofil is a salute to nature, with three key directions. Eco Chemistry underlines the search for new technologies refined by fundamentally more eco-friendly yarns: recyclings, surplus valorizations, regenerating, and anticipation of waste elimination for a thought-out approach to nature. Naive Nature is a singularly spontaneous nature with yarns marked by natural irregularities, with authentic and subtle personalities. A cheerful, refined nature with joyously moderate tones and yarn effects with visible fantasy. Dynamic Nature is intrinsically environmentally-respectful, displaying its multiple facets and performance features, illustrated alone or in combination with chemical fibres offering well-being and better living.
Both developments and samples will be presented in the forum designed by Charles de Vaivre, that echoes this alliance of nature and technology in the brightly-coloured aluminium supports resting on raw-wood logs. The Première Vision/Expofil fashion team is also doing something new this session by proposing, alongside the season's three main themes, individualised areas presenting each exhibitors' creations. And finally, as in the two prior editions, François-Xavier Hérody will coordinate the installation of specific developments that underline exhibitors' products, calling on knitters to realise them. For the next show, these fabrics will be made in partnership with 3 French companies : Célimène (circular knitting), Sycéan-e (flat bed knitting) and Decoster (dyeing).
Created in September 2009 to facilitate the discovery of new suppliers and new products, the Pluriel Experts Trails are by now one of the working tools most appreciated by visitors to the six Première Vision Pluriel shows. This season, the Expofil exhibitors who use organic fibres and natural dyes, or who recycle waste, should easily integrate the "Eco Man" Trail, which updates the menswear market in light of environmentally-friendly initiatives. And they should find in their collections numerous yarns likely to answer the needs of the "Kidswear" market, the second theme of the trails, either via their performance characteristics (resistance, washability, anti-bacterial treatments, among others) or their creativity.
