The tenth edition of Texworld USA showcased 147 exhibitors from 13 countries and welcomed 2741 attendees, representing an increase in attendance of 11.2% over the January 2010 show. Organisers Messe Frankfurt say that at Texworld USA, attendee numbers are measured in unique individuals, therefore each attendee is only counted once no matter how many days they visit the show. Attendee numbers do not include exhibitors.
David Audrain, President of Messe Frankfurt USA, stated “The record attendance we achieved at last week’s edition of Texworld USA confirms growing interest in the show and a consistent economic recovery continuing in the USA market. The January and July editions of Texworld USA serve different needs and we continue to develop the January show to best serve our attendees and exhibitors.”
New initiatives for the January 2011 show included a focus on findings, trim, lace and embroidery. Twelve exhibiting companies participated in the show, an increase of 50% over January 2010, and were all positioned at the front of the show floor. Upon arrival, shimmering crystals, elaborate embroidery and shiny buttons were said to entice buyers onto the show floor, which was said to be especially appreciated by attendees developing styles for prom, bridal and special occasion dressing. Designer Liz Burks of Maggie Sottero commented that she made “a lot of new contacts. I am looking specifically for bridal and prom and was also able to find lots of prints for prom.”
Other notable changes on the show floor included a 45% increase in exhibitor participation from India over January 2010. First time exhibitor Pinx International Pvt. Ltd. was pleased at having made the trip, “In one word Texworld USA was excellent. We will definitely be back to exhibit at the next edition in July.” Commented Suresh Chowdhary, Director of Pinx International Pvt. Ltd. in India.
Exhibitor participation from Turkey increased by 65% over last January and included knit and woven manufacturers. Remzi Dogan, Chairman of Dogan Tekstil Ltd. Sti. from Turkey, was very satisfied with his investment, stating “Texworld USA was great and perfectly organized. We really enjoyed being a part of it and the New York experience as well.”
A partnership between Texworld USA and Stylesight, a leading online trend content provider for the style industry, also launched at the show last week. Spring/Summer 2012 trend themes from Stylesight set the tone in the trend display, with Stylesight representatives acting as hosts and connecting the physical tradeshow with their online creative platform. Both the low-tech simplicity of the “Analogue” theme and the high gloss disco-meets-Dynasty of the “Manifesto” theme appealed to Beatrice Austin, Director of Fabric and Color at Victoria’s Secret. She explained, “I’m taking bits and pieces of each theme. The trend display is a good cross section of everything and the exotic fabrics from ‘Manifesto’ cross well into Fall/Winter.”
Lenzing Innovation continued to partner with Messe Frankfurt for the tenth edition of Texworld USA. Lenzing’s pavilion was an expansion of their successful fabrics trade fair, Innovation Asia (formerly TENCEL New York Inc.) and once again showcased Lenzing customers and their products.
The eleventh edition of Texworld USA will take place July 19 - 21, 2011 at the Javits Convention Center in New York City. Co-location with the International Apparel Sourcing Show and Home Textiles Sourcing Expo will create a textile sourcing destination event in New York, unlike anything else, says organiser Messe Frankfurt.
