Karl Mayer, the leading warp knitting machinery manufacturer, will be exhibiting at Techtextil 2015 that takes place form 4-7 May in Frankfurt, as an expert partner in the development of innovative solutions, for various areas of everyday life and industry.

The company will be exhibiting in a meeting room in the shape of a tower with a spiral entrance. This is made entirely from warp-knitted spacer fabrics and is designed to create a peaceful sanctuary. The 3D fabric has a special construction to enable it to act as a sound-absorbing material.

Design and interior

Textiles made from carbon and glass fibres for reinforcing composite materials will also be another topic on the company’s stand. A futuristic installation will be demonstrating the process from production on the machine to resin treatment.

The Swing rocking chair designed by the Paulsberg Design Studio shows that attractively shaped products can be produced by combining a reinforcing textile with the right matrix material.

This comfortable chair is made from concrete with a reinforcing material made from a biaxial carbon-fibre textile. Visitors will be able to learn more about processing textile reinforcement into furniture by watching a video at the info point. In addition to Paulsberg’s film, another will also be shown illustrating the design features and operating sequences of multiaxial warp knitting machines.

Other applications

The company will also present a collection of functional fabrics for the sports sector, demonstrating the special features of warp-knitted fabrics in terms of performance enhancement, perspiration wicking and heat management – from shirts to shoes.

The products shown on Karl Mayer’s stand will only cover several of a wide range of applications for which fabrics produced on the company’s machines can be used.

Warp-knitted textiles may also be used, in the building industry, medical and health sector, agriculture, aircraft construction and the automotive industry.
