
Italian textile machinery on display in Vietnam
Dong Xuan Knitting Co. Ltd. (Doximex), one of Vietnam's largest knitted goods producers opened a new US$ 16 million knitting factory on 15 November 2011, which will manufacture premium quality garments for the Japanese market. The new Doximex manufacturing unit in Vietnam's Northern Province of Hung Yen has been built by the Vietnamese company in association with Katakura Industries Company, its Japanese partner, and has an annual production capacity of 10 million knitted garments. It will provide jobs for approximately 2000 workers.
The new factory will mainly produce knit garments for Japanese retailer Aeon's private label Topvalu. Apart from catering to the needs of Japanese conglomerates like Aeon and Itochu, Doximex also caters to the apparel requirements of brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Aulak Fashions, The Children's Place and Eminence Apparel.
Future plans of Doximex include development of a spinning facility and a fabric plant in the Hung Yen province with respective capacity of 6,000 tons and 3,000 tons per annum. Doximex manufactures a range of knitted underwear, t-shirts and casual wear for men, women and children.
The company was founded in 1959 and is a member of the Kim Dong Xuan Textile group, previously known as Textile Factory Kim Dong Xuan. In addition to producing knitted apparel, Doximex also weaves, prints and embroiders garments using modern equipment and technologies.
