51st IFKT addresses The Future of Knitting

51st International Federation of Knitting Technologists Congress celebrates global creativity and community.

The 51st IFKT premier global gathering for knitting technologists, enthusiasts, designers, and industry leaders, concluded on 23 August after two days of inspiring presentations, captivating keynotes, and a showcase of innovative knitting techniques and products in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

Attended by delegates from eighteen countries, the congress provided a vibrant platform for global knitting technologists and engineers community to connect, share knowledge, and push the boundaries of this timeless craft.

"The IFKT has once again demonstrated the power of knitting to bring people together, foster creativity, and celebrate diverse cultural traditions from around the world," said Hitesh Kumar Sharma, President of IFKT-North America. "This congress has been a true testament to the passion, skill, and innovation that define the global knitting community."

Key highlights of the congress included a 65 years of IFKT excellence book released by Deputy Mayor of Brampton, Harkirat Singh, along with IFKT board members, and B2B cross border opportunities by Jayesh Menon-senior advisor economic developments city of Brampton.

The congress also featured presentations from Seneca Polytechnic-Toronto & Hochschule Niederrhein University of Applied Science-Germany, Kent State University of Fashion-USA where attendees had the opportunity to discover the latest yarns, fabrics, tools, and technologies shaping the future of the knitting industry.

Later, the IFKT board members from Germany, Ireland, United States, Bangladesh also visited The Great Canadian Sox Knitting Co. Inc. to learn more about the Canadian manufacturing socks plant’s operations and were impressed by their thermal woollen socks collection.
