Amni Soul Eco, the fast-degrading yarn produced and distributed by Fulgar in Europe is a synthesis of science, fashion and low environmental impact, the Milan based company reports. Amni Soul Eco’s formula has been fine-tuned even further and now passes the test certifying its rapid degradation in marine environments without compromising on the product’s performance, Fulgar says.

The latest tests carried out on the yarn have confirmed the effectiveness of its make-up. Microplastics released when garments made using Amni Soul Eco are washed, decompose twenty times more quickly in the marine environment than microplastics from conventional synthetic yarns, the company says. Decomposition in the soil also takes place rapidly, it adds. The material it is made from has also been developed to be sustainable during production by recycling water and through special greenhouse gas reduction treatments.

Technical note: Bio-degradation performance is determined by ASTM D5511 and ASTM D6691 standard test methods.
