MAS strengthens presence in country with new apparel facility in Odisha.

MAS Holdings, South Asia’s largest apparel manufacturer, has taken a significant step in its global expansion by breaking ground for its first facility in Odisha, India. This strategic initiative reinforces MAS’ longstanding presence in India while enhancing its regional production capabilities and strengthening access to the fast-growing Indian retail market.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by key MAS executives, including Suren Fernando, Group Chief Executive Officer of MAS Holdings, Malik Ahamadeen, CEO of MAS India, Shakthi Ranatunga, COO of MAS Holdings, and Murad Rajudin, CEO of MAS Fabric Park. The Odisha Government was represented by Shri Subhendra Kumar Nayak, OAS, Special Secretary
MAS Holdings plans to commence apparel production at the Odisha facility in 2026. The plant will focus on producing value-added apparel products for both Indian and international markets. This investment leverages India’s manufacturing strengths while integrating MAS’ proven operational excellence developed in Sri Lanka. The new operations will also benefit the wider MAS group, which has the majority of its workforce in Sri Lanka, by opening new markets and fostering stronger regional partnerships.
Commenting on the investment, Malik Ahamadeen, CEO of MAS India, said: “MAS is excited to take this important step in creating a strong apparel ecosystem in the region. This is enabled by our extensive experience in managing holistic apparel industrial zones in Sri Lanka, bringing together key partners along the apparel supply chain.”

Over the next ten years, MAS Holdings plans to develop the 60-acre site in collaboration with its partners to establish a fully-fledged apparel hub in Odisha.
