Polartec, the premium provider of innovative textile solutions, has announced the return of its iconic PolarFleece brand.

When it was invented in 1981, PolarFleece circular knitted synthetic fleece set the premium standard for lightweight warmth and comfort, and became a fashion icon that forever changed what we wear when we go outside. The invention has been relentlessly copied since, but imitations have never matched the soft hand, quality knit, and sheer versatility of genuine PolarFleece, which is warmer, lighter, and far more durable, the US company says.

“That’s why Polartec is bringing back the PolarFleece brand starting with the PolarFleece Pullover, a humble homage to the original article of 1981. The PolarFleece Pullover is no artifact, but a modern update that packs a lot of performance fabric into one garment.

A combination of Polartec Classic 200 Series Fleece and resilient, easy-moving Polartec Power Stretch with durable Polartec Hardface reinforcement in the collar, pocket, waist and cuffs ensure this timeless silhouette provides warmth and comfort all year long. Each garment is customizable, 100% recycled, and made in the U.S.A.,” the company said in a statement today.

At a politically charged time when there is lots of talk about American manufacturing, Polartec is bringing the factory to the show floor. Custom PolarFleece Pullovers will be available for purchase at the 2017 Outdoor Retailer Winter Show January 10-12 in Salt Lake City, UT, made to order and sewn in the Polartec booth (#32093) while supplies last. Special pricing at Outdoor Retailer is $50 (credit card only) and all proceeds from sales at Outdoor Retailer will be donated to Big City Mountaineers, a non-profit mentorship program helping urban youth explore nature.

“Polartec fleece is the product that started it all, and is still the premium standard,” says Gary Smith, Polartec CEO. “Re-launching the PolarFleece brand is an opportunity for us to bring consumers a customized full garment that is 100% made in America.”

Polartec products range from lightweight wicking and cooling fabrics, to insulation and weather protection textiles, and are utilized by leading consumer brands, the U.S. military and other global militaries, flame resistance, workwear, and contract upholstery markets.
