A leading German company has developed ‘knitted legs’, which are 100% waterproof and breathable.

After a successful spring presentation at the Lineapelle trade fair in February this year, Sympatex Technologies will again take part in the leading international leather fair in Milan this autumn from 9-11 September.

Together with its Italian distribution partner PIDIGI SpA, Sympatex will present high-performance technologies as well as the latest laminate developments in the ‘footwear’ area.

A Sympatex highlight at the show will be Seamless Climate Technology in the form of laminated knitted legs based on the company’s Sympatex Climate Technology, which are said to be 100% waterproof and windproof as well as optimally breathable due to the extremely flexible Sympatex membrane inside the laminate.

Sympatex Climate Technology consists of a membrane sandwiched between a hydrophobic 3D knitted spacer fabric outer material and a hydrophilic inner lining.

According to the company, another advantage lies in the ‘seamless’ leg, which is taped with just one seam to the heel. Customers can choose between a wide range of colours and knitting patterns, Sympatex adds. The material mix of the 100% recyclable “guaranteed green” Sympatex membrane and the hydrophobic knitted upper, is also said to offer year-round use.

As a leading membranes producer, Sympatex Technologies has been synonymous for high-tech functional materials in clothing, footwear, accessories and technical fields of application since 1986.

Together with selected partners, Sympatex develops, produces and distributes membranes, laminates and functional textiles as well as finished products worldwide.

The Sympatex membrane is said to be highly breathable, 100% wind and waterproof and regulates the climate. It also claims to be 100% recyclable, is bluesign certified, and received the Öko-Tex-Standard 100 certificate. It is also said to be PTFE-free and PFC-free.

The company says its technologies and procedures are based on the principles of ecological responsibility and sustainability with a special focus on the optimal carbon footprint. Sympatex Technologies is represented worldwide with sales offices and branches.
