The author of the report visited Prima Moda Tessuto, Munich Fabric Start, Milano Unica, Première Vision Pluriel and Texworld, where she interviewed exhibitors and found out first-hand which trends were proving to be the most popular.
The mood at this season’s fairs was more optimistic compared with the atmosphere a year before. Two factors appear to be working in European fabric manufacturers’ favour. First, there appears to be a growing appetite for European luxury goods in certain developing markets which have the disposable income to pay for them, and second, fabric buyers working for European clothing producers have been switching some of their sourcing away from Asian mills to suppliers nearer home.
