Examining fabrics at GlobaltexMarket Center Management Company (MCMC), the management company behind GlobalTex: LA International Textile & Sourcing Fair, has announced that the fourth edition of GlobalTex held September 28-30 at the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC), delivered more buyers and featured more international resources than ever with key growth in denim and sublimation printing as well as new and innovative trend displays.

“GlobalTex continues to grow and to draw more attendees and high-end resources from more than 25 countries,” said Bill Winsor, president and CEO, MCMC. “A new standard has been set on the West Coast – a complete show with more European lines, inspiring trend displays, and exciting seminars.”

GlobalTex achieved a more than 20 percent increase in attendees from 15 countries and 35 states including gains in the southern and eastern U.S. More than 150 lines were presented during the three-day show. Just a few of the designers and major stores that attended include: 7 For All Mankind, Bebe Studio Inc., Chico’s, Forever 21, Fossil Inc., GUESS, IZOD, Joe’s Jeans, Jones Apparel Group, Karen Kane Inc., L.L.Bean, Limited Brands, Perry Ellis, Robert Rodriguez, St. John Knits, Tadashi, Tommy Bahama, Trina Turk, Warnaco, Walt Disney Entertainment, and many more.

The show featured a 25 percent increase and 70 percent retention in European resources. Twenty-five countries were represented including: Australia, Bangladesh, Belgium, Canada, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Macau, Mexico, Nepal, Pakistan, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Stoll booth at Globaltex September 2010In addition to more international resources, GlobalTex welcomed a range of associations including: Associacao Selectiva Moda; China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles (CCCT); Ningbo, a sub-council of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT); Indian Powerloom Development & Export Promotion Council; Indian Silk Promotion Council; Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP); and Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF).

Exclusive trend partner Mudpie, along with the GlobalTex visual design team, provided attendees inspiration and international trend intelligence. Mudpie provided two services: directional trend displays and seminars. In addition, Mudpie provided attendees the opportunity to purchase its trend books and online forecasting. Mudpie’s mission is to design, distribute, sell and promote the world’s leading trend information within printed products, online services and design consultancy.

“GlobalTex offers leading trend resources through its professional trend displays and a complete roster of seminar speakers from Europe, the East and West Coast,” said Cindy Morris, COO, MCMC. “Our goal is to deliver trend direction, business insights and much more to attendees.”

Hundreds of attendees attended more than a dozen seminars and networking opportunities that were held throughout the show, discussing upcoming trends and relevant business insights. Presenters included: Doty Horn, director of future trends and designs, Benjamin Moore; Emanuelle Linard, EDELKOORT, Inc.; Fiona Jenvey, CEO, Mudpie Ltd.; Fran and Arnold Sude, Design Options, The West Coast Perspective; Frances Harder, president and founder, Fashion Business, Inc.; Ilse Metcheck, president, California Fashion Association; Lyndsey Wong, West Coast trend director, STYLESIGHT; Martin Legner, sales manager, North America, STOLL America Knitting Machinery, Inc.; and Philippe Bertrand, Woolworks International.
