Brussels, 31 March – 1 April 2011

The 6th Annual Public Conference of the European Textile Technology Platform will take place on 31 March – 1 April 2011 in Brussels. With this year’s event entitled ‘Societal Challenges – Textile Solutions’, the European textile and clothing industry and its research community aim to demonstrate to EU policy makers and the press how innovative textiles can help addressing major societal challenges in Europe such as energy, climate change, health, safety, food, water and transport.

According to the organisers the event will also make a contribution to the current political discussion on future EU research, innovation and higher education policies and funding programmes and highlight the many cross-sectoral research collaborations the European Textile Technology Platform has built with counterpart organisations in related industries over recent years.

The future EU research and innovation policies will be subject of the afternoon opening session on 31 March during which Ms. Anneli Pauli, Deputy Director General of the European Commission’s DG Research will address the audience. On 1 April a line-up of industry speakers will present innovative textile solutions for Europe’s major societal challenges which are already on the market or expected to be launched in the near future.

The event will take place at Husa President Park Hotel in Brussels. The draft programme and conference registration documents are available on www.textile-platform.eu
