Monforts will be showcasing its advanced textile finishing technology at the Morocco Stitch & Tex 2025 exhibition, held at the Casablanca International Fairground (OFEC) from 13–15 May. The event comes at a pivotal time for North Africa’s textile sector as it prepares for major growth and transformation.

With strong garment manufacturing foundations already in place, countries in the region - particularly Morocco - are accelerating efforts to expand their upstream textile production and finishing capabilities. Their geographical proximity to Europe, coupled with attractive cost and operational conditions, makes them increasingly competitive. Morocco, a top ten EU garment supplier with a longstanding free trade agreement with the USA, is also well positioned to benefit if new US import tariffs on Asian goods come into effect.

Monforts, a global specialist in fabric finishing technologies, will be on hand to support this regional push for expansion. The company’s Montex stenters, known for their high throughput and energy efficiency, are widely adopted in the denim and home textiles sectors. Complementing these are Monforts’ Thermex dyeing ranges, Monfortex compressive shrinking machines, relaxation dryers, and MontexCoat and coaTTex coating units.

Celebrating its 140th anniversary in 2024, Monforts has remained headquartered in Mönchengladbach, Germany, since its founding in 1884. Its Austrian production site has been operational since 1982, and the company’s Advanced Technology Centre (ATC) continues to offer full-scale industrial trials and testing for clients worldwide.

More than 2,000 Monforts machines are currently in operation around the globe, some in place for over three decades. Yet through retrofitting- adding advanced modules, controls, and drive systems—these legacy systems can still benefit from the latest innovations in automation and performance, far beyond simple spare part replacement.

“North Africa, and Morocco in particular, has become a key market for us,” says Monforts Area Sales Manager Achim Gesser. “Imports of European textile machinery into Morocco have risen by double-digit percentages in recent years, and several exciting projects are underway.”

One such initiative is the construction of Africa’s largest textile and garment production hub in Morocco, involving 568 factories and a projected US$2 billion investment. Turkish manufacturers, many of whom already operate over 600 Monforts lines in Turkiye, are showing increasing interest in establishing operations in North Africa.

“This exhibition will bring together the entire supply chain - from fibre and yarn suppliers to garment producers,” Gesser adds. “With Morocco’s Vision 2025 programme targeting $10 billion in apparel and garment earnings and 15% annual growth, Monforts is ready to support manufacturers aiming to be part of this dynamic transformation.”
