This 2013 update provides indispensable insight for any textile and clothing company supplying goods to international markets in general, as well as to the EU region, and for strategists looking to undertake competitor analysis.
In this report, Textiles Intelligence reveals trends in EU imports and import prices of textiles and clothing as a whole and of 15 major product categories -- namely cotton yarn, fabrics woven from synthetic staple fibres, fabrics woven from synthetic filament yarn, T-shirts, pullovers, women's blouses, men's shirts, women's overcoats, women's dresses, women's skirts, women's suits, men's trousers, men's denim trousers, women's trousers and women's denim trousers.
Overall, EU textile and clothing imports fell in volume terms in 2012 to their second lowest level since 2004. They also fell in value terms although they were still at their second highest level on record. There were increases in the overall average prices of textile and clothing imports from six of the EU's ten largest supplying countries.
The report also includes an outlook for 2013 and beyond, as well as an appendix containing information and data on exchange rates, the effect of quota liberalisation on EU imports, the impact of China's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the impact of the elimination of China safeguard restrictions on EU imports from China and EU imports from Vietnam.
