May was a big month for London knitwear manufacturing brand Unmade Studio. The young entrepreneurial company scooped the Fashion Futures Digital Coalition of the Year award from the British Fashion Council and Decoded Fashion for its collaboration with UK based designer Christopher Raeburn. “We’d like to congratulate Christopher on his award, and to thank him for being a true innovator,” Unmade announced on its website.
Then later in the month, D&AD, (Global Association for Creative Advertising & Design Awards), the leading design awards body, awarded Unmade with ‘three pencils’, including a Yellow Pencil for the Most Outstanding Creative Excellence in Digital Design. Only two Yellow Pencils were awarded within the digital category this year - one to Unmade and one to Google - plus the company was up against stiff competition alongside Nike and Spotify.
Unmade also won two Wood Pencils for Branding and Art Direction with Bibliotheque Design and Future Corp.
“Thank you to everyone who's supported us on our journey - we couldn't have gotten this far without you and we look forward to sharing more exciting developments with you over the next few weeks and months,” Unmade said.
If you don’t know who Unmade are, you should check them out. They are a group of young London based entrepreneurs who have come up with a unique way of designing, making and selling knitwear. Read all about them in today’s feature here on Knitting Industry - Unmade Studio: It’s knitwear manufacturing - but not as we know it.
