MPCG HR & Recruitment are exclusively recruiting for a rare opportunity to join the Product Development team in a specialist Knitting R&D Technician/Programmer role. The role will lead development of ‘near net-shape’ preform composite textiles to support product range initiatives which incorporate new technologies, materials, and products for a variety of aerospace-related product opportunities.

The Knitting R&D Technician/Programmer will work closely with the Technical, Engineering & Production teams, and will be able to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of 3D textile knitting principles, Stoll M1+ knitting machine programming, operation, and maintenance. In addition, there will be requirement to develop, implement, and maintain methods, operation sequences and processes relating to the manufacturing of components and final assemblies in a wide array of materials.

This role will appeal to high calibre individuals who can demonstrate the following essential skills and experience:

-Experienced knitting technician who has worked in a knitted textile environment with flat knitting production

-Technical knowledge of operation and programming of Stoll knitting machines

-Excellent M1 Plus programming skills/or equivalent, with hands on ability to develop and validate knit patterns / programs

-Experience in developing knitted textiles and ability to be hands-on in validating prototypes and concepts

-Basic project management skills and ability to self-initiate projects

-Excellent attention to detail and proven analytical skills

-Team player with ability to establish and maintain co-operative and effective working relationships

Key aspects of this role include:

-Serve as technical lead on large-scale product development, knowledge transfer and hand-over to production.

-Collaborate with the Engineering and Technical teams to identify and drive projects that demonstrate the benefits of new technologies focused on textiles.

-Provide technical guidance for team members and business unit teams, develop design tools, principles and procedures in support of new technology and product developments.

-Research new manufacturing technologies and introduce promising technologies to the R&D team.

-Challenge internal thinking to accelerate new technology adoption.

The successful candidate should have:

-A sound understanding of Stoll flat knitting machines and M1+ Programming with factory-accredited training

-A “technical textiles” background

-Project Management skills
