75 years of innovation and service at Harry Lucas

The family enterprise will organise a celebration ceremony taking place at its headquarters in Neumünster.

German knitting machine manufacturer Harry Lucas has celebrated its 75th anniversary at its Neumünster location, where the company’s CEO Harry Lucas announced further celebrations to take place in April.

The family enterprise will organise a celebration ceremony taking place at its headquarters in Neumünster, which will feature an official welcome reception for invited guests, followed by a scheduled programme of events, including a machinery exhibition and several speakers, who will present before the informal part of the celebrations.

Harry Lucas is a textile machinery manufacturer specialising in circular warp and weft knitting machines and knit braiders. The well-established German company's highly specialised machines are exported worldwide for production of fabric used in medical, technical textiles and fashion markets.

Harry Lucas is also well known for the production of spiralising and circular knitting machines for low and high pressure hoses which are used in applications for the automotive industry, for example. Originally founded in Łódź, Poland, in 1942, by the grandfather of the present owner, the company has been based in Neumünster since 1952.

The founder’s great-grandson Harry Lucas IV, who is currently finishing his MA studies in mechanical engineering, is also actively engaged in the company’s operations at its Chemnitz facility, in the fields of technology, construction and development. He now aims to contribute further by integrating some of the most modern IT technologies in the developing and manufacturing of the highly specialised textile machinery.

The company praised its staff for achieving the manufacturer’s growth and development objectives. “Everyone in the house of Harry Lucas is ready for the growing challenges of the international markets. About 80% of the worldwide production of radiator hoses actually is made by Harry Lucas circular knitting machines.”

The company further stressed the importance of constant technical advancements in order to maintain a leading market position and Made in Germany quality. These include advances in modular machine construction, optimisation of the manufacturing processes, as well as communication and cooperation at all levels and in all locations, which besides Germany include Poland, the US and China.
