Cifra, based in Italy, a specialist in the manufacture of apparel using its Warp Knit Seamless (WKS) production technique, has announced the launch of its first outerwear line – the result of a “lengthy, meticulous designing process”. This new direction is towards creating contemporary and futuristic urban casualwear with a highly technological edge, incorporating ventilation body mapping areas that “allow for the body to experience a pleasant feeling of freshness”, combined with a pleasing aesthetic.
“The transferring of the WKS technology from skin-tight underwear and sportswear to outer urban wear and hi-tech outerwear is an innovation that we are sure will inspire both sports and fashion brands,” said Cesare Citterio, CEO and owner of Cifra. “From a sports point of view, we are also studying a collection of garments that we will present at ISPO 2019 in Munich, designed specifically with the upcoming World Cup in Qatar in mind to combat the effects caused by high temperatures.”
The company launched a concept video realised by the London agency Rokabyestudio that explains the company’s unique position in the market and its possibilities, through a 3D graphic simulation.
The Milan based company is one of a handful of companies in the world, which has exploited the true potential of WKS technology to date. Using this technique, the company can easily customise seamless garments so that they incorporate a number of different knit patterns—including intricate lace-like patterns and breathable mesh-like patterns.
The first collection of WKS fashion apparel was launched in 2010, and since then the company has significantly expanded its offerings. The company now has more than one thousand different styles in its production catalogue and can also produce new designs and exclusive styles following customers' specific requests.
Sustainability plays an important role in the company’s production processes, which is waste free. The company is also using more yarns made from natural fibres and is looking to broaden its use of yarns made from bio-based materials and recycled materials, such as Econyl by Aquafil, QNova and Evo by Fulgar, and Sensil Ecocare by Nilit Fibers.
