Fritz P. Mayer, Managing Director of leading warp knitting machine builder Karl Mayer Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbH has been appointed as Chairman of the Textile Machinery Association within Germany’s VDMA.
The VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen & Anlagenbau - German Engineering Federation) is a network of around 3,000 engineering industry companies in Europe and Mayer was elected to the Board of Directors until 2011 at the Association’s Annual General Meeting in Berlin on 6 June.
The new board of directors also appointed Heinrich Trutzschler, Managing Director of card manufacturer Trutzschler GmbH & Co. KG and Karlheinz Liebrandt, co-owner of warp knitting machine builder Liba Maschinenfabrik GmbH.
Fritz P. Mayer has been part of the management team at Karl Mayer since 1980. The Obertshausen (near Frankfurt) based company is the world’s leading manufacturer of warp knitting and raschel machines, employing 3,000 people in Germany, Brazil, China, UK, Italy, Japan and the USA.
The executive board for the three-year period to 2011 is composed of fourteen members amongst whom are Roland Hampel, A. Monforts Textilmaschinen GmbH & Co. KG, Rainer Mayer, Mayer & Cie. GmbH & Co. KG, Eric Schuller, Groz-Beckert KG, and Heinz-Peter Stoll, H. Stoll GmbH & Co. KG.
