Leading computerized knitting machine manufacturer Shima Seiki, together with its Italian subsidiary Shima Seiki Italia will participate at the ISPO exhibition in Munich, Germany this month. Shima is a corporate partner to ISPO Brandnew, a special platform for promising newcomers to the sports industry.

On display at booth BN04 in the ISPO Brandnew section will be Shima’s flagship MACH2XS WHOLEGARMENT knitting machine that features such innovations as the original SlideNeedle on four needle beds as well as the company’s patented springloaded moveable sinker system.

It can knit high quality Items with dimensional structures and details that are unique to WHOLEGARMENT, all without seams. Seamfree knitwear is ideal for training and athletics, removing a major source of discomfort, chafing, and limitations in stretch while opening new possibilities for wearable technology. Produced in its entirety on the knitting machine, WHOLEGARMENT is sustainable sportswear that consumes only the minimum amount of materials required for that item.

MACH2XS at ISPO additionally features the new Tension Control option, capable of adjusting yarn feed amount according to the stretch property of each yarn, supporting production using elastic yarns which are so widespread among sportswear and compression wear yet so difficult to handle.

The Tension Control option in combination with Shima’s renowned iDSCS+DTC Digital Stitch Control System with intelligence and Digital Tension Control system assures consistent quality control for these items. The MACH2XS machine will be knitting a base layer shirt knit with elastic yarn to demonstrate this feature. The latest sportswear samples produced on MACH2XS and other machines will be on display as well.

Also, on display will be Shima’s new SDSONE APEX4 design system, the fourth generation of its series and the most powerful, most efficient APEX to date. Processing speeds for programming and simulation are improved by up to 600 per cent compared to the previous generation SDSONE APEX3, for quicker response especially in virtual sampling.

Virtual sampling based on ultrarealistic simulation improves on the design evaluation process by minimizing the need for actual sample making. This realizes significant savings in time, cost and material, further contributing to sustainable manufacturing.
